This Lunar New Year, once again, we pay homage to local culinary heritage with the traditional sugee cake, a treat unique to our region's Eurasian culture. A simple yet heartwarming dessert, sugee cake is often featured on family dining tables during special occasions and aptly epitomises the reunions and gatherings that are customary during the Lunar New Year season.
Made with semolina and almonds instead of industrial milled flour, sugee cake is known to be light in texture, coarse in crumb and rich & nutty in flavour. This Classic version is doused with a good measure of brandy as traditional recipes dictate, and decorated with brandy glaze, roasted almonds, silvered almonds and dried chamomile flowers.
This cake can be customised with a hand-piped message; you will be able to indicate your desired message before adding this item to your cart. We are able to provide candles with your cake order; please indicate the quantity and size at check out. Please note that we do not provide cake knives.
Available as a 8" cake, which yields 6 to 8 slices.
Care & Allergens
Our sugee cake is best consumed on the day of or the next day of delivery for optimal taste. They can be kept for 2 to 3 days, although the longer they are kept, the less optimal its taste and texture. As our sugee cakes are butter-based, they are best stored in an airtight box at room temperature. Refrigeration is not recommended as it will cause the cake texture to harden and never return to its original soft texture.
